Have You Packed For BMT Yet?!

Before you leave for BMT (basic military training) your recruiter will give you an Air Force approved list of what you may and may not bring with you to “boot camp”. I haven’t gone to basic training yet; but I thought that since I’m using this blog as an informative source as much as a place for me to vent, that I should include some useful information that I used.

Documents
To complete all of your military records, you will need to bring some items with you to basic training. Better to be safe than sorry so, bring any paperwork you think may be useful during your processing. Below is a list of the minimum documents you should bring if you have them:Eyeglasses

Driver’s License
Social Security Card
Marriage License
Dependent’s Birth Records
JROTC/ROTC Certificates
Civil Air Patrol Certificates
Naturalization Papers
Alien Card
Enlistment Contract

Any documentation regarding your prescriptions

Required Items

All recruits are required to have the following items. Don’t worry, if you don’t bring them with you, as you will be allowed to purchase the items on arrival. Cost of purchase will come out of your military pay.

Laundry Soap
Shampoo
Deoderant
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Toothbrush Holder
Black Shoe Polish
Shine Brush/Cloth
Shower Shoes
Soap (bar or liquid);since everything is inspected at BMT liquid is suggested by current airman, since its easier to keep inspection ready
Ball Point Pen (blue or black ink)
Notebook and Paper

Sanitary Napkins/Tampons;tampons are suggested due to cleanliness and atmosphere of BMT
Hair bands, Bobby Pins etc.make sure they are either the same color as your hair or clear
Brushes or Combs
Bras/Sports Bras (white or skin color)
Underwear;ladies, please stay away from thongs and hot pink. you might not like granny panties, but they might save you from some unnecessary push-ups
Nylons/Pantyhose (nude)

3 Changes of Civilian Clothes don’t bring any flashy clothes. simple t-shirts and jeans.
If you wear glasses you must bring/purchase eyeglass straps. sexy, huh?
